One down, one to go.

I finally finished the one sock:

Almost finished...

I am so glad I didn't give up on this, when it wasn't working the way I thought it should. It's kind of hard to tell what part I just finished, but now all I have left is the foot and toe. I've been thinking about making a video to put on youtube that shows how to clearly make socks. Some of the videos I watched explained well but the picture was fuzzy. Those with clear pictures made no sense! I may do that with the next one if I decide to make this into a pair.

Follow the directions.

So, yesterday after turning the heel on the sock pattern, I had to work on the gusset next. I watched several videos, but wasn't ready to make the next step and tackle it. The heel flap looked huge. Today I decided to give it a try and hope that it worked. When I re-read the directions it kept saying to pick up and stitch half of what I had. It confused me until I read the previous instructions and realized that instead of doing 20 rows on the heel flap, I did 40! All because I did not read the instructions right.

So being extremely careful, I ripped out all the stitches I did yesterday and the day before and started doing the heel flap again. This is the second time I have messed up because I read the directions too fast and thought I knew what it said when I was wrong. Slow down, Noel!

I hope by tomorrow I'll be ready to work on the gusset. I'm thankful for folks on youtube that I can watch their how to video's and learn to do this right. That and reading the book ag…

Making of a sock

I've wanted to give up a few times in learning to knit socks, but I'm glad I've stuck with it. It's actually looking like a sock so far! Now, if I can just learn how to do turn the heel. Only a few more steps to go after that part. Which seems to be the hardest thing yet to learn.

Here is a picture of my sister wearing the scarf I made her. I bought the yarn Tuesday afternoon and worked from morning until night for three days to get it done by Saturday. Literally. I don't want to go through that again! But hearing Angel say again and again that she liked it was worth getting it done in time.
That's the hat I gave Tori but Angel claimed it as hers, so this week I'm making another hat for tori. Two actually. That same color and a purple one. Will post up pics when I get it done.
